What this checker does

The checker splits a pasted label into normalized ingredient names, then looks for exact matches in the same 251,493-record ingredient index used by PlainFoodSafe product pages. It reports only the FDA SAFFA and CSPI fields attached to those matches as of September 2026; unmatched text remains visibly unmatched rather than being guessed.

Every figure on PlainFoodSafe is rendered directly from OpenFoodFacts and FDA data, no number is typed in by an editor. Submitted text is normalized and exact-matched against the portal's stored ingredient rows. Unmatched names remain unmatched; no synonym, risk, or dose is inferred.
